Firntec GIS · Beta
A modern web GIS for municipalities and companies: simple to use, securely hosted in Switzerland, fast on every device. Your data maintained by you, without your own infrastructure and without depending on someone else for every small change.
The map is publicly accessible. With a personal account you additionally use your own scenes and favourites.
The utility lines sit as a PDF in a folder, the current state in the head of the works foreman. Every correction in the map means a request to the service provider, and you wait for it to come back. And every request costs money.
It is not only about utility lines. Land-use planning, the tree register, the locations of hydrants and assets, maintenance planning in the public works department: spatial data is everywhere, and everywhere the same question comes up: where it is, whether it is current and who maintains it.
Then someone wants the data. An engineering office, the canton, a planner. And the searching, exporting and assembling by hand begins.
This is exactly where Firntec GIS comes in.
Firntec GIS is a web-based platform on which you manage, edit and share your spatial data. You open the map in the browser, on the laptop in the office or on your phone in the field, and see your utilities, assets, parcels and locations in one place.
What makes it special: you work with the data yourself. You record simple edits directly in the map: place a tree, add a utility line, correct a location. Every change is logged, so it stays traceable who did what and when.
Your data lives in a dedicated database run just for you, securely hosted in Switzerland and fully separated from everyone else. The modern platform on top of it we operate jointly for all customers. You need no infrastructure of your own and no IT team. Firntec builds and runs the platform, you use it.
And we develop it ourselves, close to our customers. The needs of the municipality of Bister flow directly into design and development. What is needed in practice gets built, not what a product catalogue dictates.
You make simple changes yourself, instantly. What used to take a request and a wait is now a click in the map.
Need to deliver data to an office, the canton or a planner? Select, export, done. As a GeoPackage or in further formats, clean and standards-compliant.
Consistently mobile-first. The map works on your phone just as well as on screen, exactly where the work happens.
Every edit is logged. That provides certainty towards the supervisory authority and clarity within the team.
Firntec GIS is offered as an annual subscription geared to the scope you use. No oversized package you pay for without needing it.
A dedicated database, hosted in Switzerland. You decide who gets access and who may edit or only view.
2D and 3D
Your own data is only half the story. Through the Discover area or directly via search you bring in layers from the Confederation and the cantons: official cadastral surveying, zoning plans, hazard maps, aerial imagery, pipes and cables register and much more. Everything sits next to your own data on the same map.
And not just flat. Firntec GIS shows the data in 2D as well as 3D, from the zoning plan to the terrain model. So you see your municipality as it really is.
Glimpses from the desktop and the mobile view.
Survey data is the foundation, and a good GIS has to show it and be able to work with it. This data is supplied by land surveyors, precisely and reliably. But developing and running a GIS yourself is a craft of its own. Most surveying firms buy this software at great expense and run it alongside their actual business.
Firntec comes from the other direction: software is our core business. Simple, secure, fast. You maintain your data yourself, directly and traceably.
Utilities, land-use planning, public works, enquiries from residents: your municipal geodata in one place, maintained by you, accessible to the public where it makes sense. Without depending on a service provider for every small change.
Utility lines, assets, locations, areas: anyone managing spatial data needs a secure GIS without building their own platform. Your data lives in your own database, separate and under your control.
